I like hats. I have at least a couple dozen wool felt hats of all different styles. I have various cowboy, fedora and rancher variations with different crowns and brims and this hat is the style that has been eluding me for years.Several hat purchases for me over the past years were intended to capture this look, and while some came close, there was always just a little something I wished were tweaked (eg. I wish the crown were just a bit taller, the brim a bit wider or narrower, the crown shape a little different). While I still really like all those hats, love this one. And just on the general topic of wool felt hats, every one of mine has proven durable regardless of price point, brand, stiffness or weight, if it’s 100% wool you can’t go wrong. This hat just nails every detail of proportions between crown height and shape, brim width, the pencil rolled edge and even the color and distressing. I have never bought a distressed hat before because generally I think they look fakey and I prefer my hats get beat up in their own by wearing them. But in the pictures this particular style (brown, forgetting the exact color name and if I look I’ll lose this message) looked believably “real” and naturally distressed. When it arrived I was happy to see it looked great, and subtle enough to not look fake even up close.
